BioNanoSense: Research content management
A research team needed to maintain its own publications and member directory. I built a website with a content management system for regular updates.

The context
BioNanoSense Lab is the online home of an academic research laboratory specializing in nanotechnology, biosensing, and electrochemical systems. I designed and built the entire website — a visually striking, scientifically credible platform that showcases the lab's research areas, publications, team members, and latest news. Powered by Sanity CMS, the lab team can independently update publications, add new members, and post updates without any developer involvement.
The business problem
Giving a cutting-edge research lab a digital presence that matches its scientific excellence
- The lab had no online presence, making it difficult for potential collaborators, graduate students, and funding agencies to discover their work and research focus areas.
- Academic lab websites are often outdated and visually uninspiring — the team needed a modern, polished site that reflects the innovative nature of their nanotechnology and biosensing research.
- Publications, team members, and research updates change frequently — the site needed to be easily updatable by non-technical lab members without developer assistance.
- The website needed to effectively communicate complex scientific research areas (biosensing, nanomaterials, electrochemistry) to both specialist and general audiences.
What I built
A visually immersive academic website with self-service content management
- Designed a dramatic, dark-themed hero section with 3D-style imagery of molecular structures, rotating research focus banners, and smooth Framer Motion animations that immediately convey scientific innovation.
- Built dedicated sections for research areas, each with clear descriptions of the lab's work in biosensing, nanotechnology, and electrochemical systems — accessible to both experts and newcomers.
- Created a publications section pulling from Sanity CMS, allowing the lab to maintain an up-to-date catalog of their published papers with titles, journals, dates, and links.
- Implemented a team members directory showcasing the principal investigator, researchers, and students — with photos, roles, and research interests managed entirely through Sanity.
- Added a news/updates section for the lab to share announcements, conference presentations, and milestones — keeping the site fresh and demonstrating active research output.
- Built the frontend with Next.js and Tailwind CSS for exceptional performance, SEO optimization, and a responsive design that looks stunning on all devices.
